After earning her CPA accreditation, Sharon started the business out of her home in 1978. Owing her first clients for their support, to include her friends and connections in the community, news of Sharon's finesse and guidance in the financial field spread quickly through word of mouth. More recommendations came from clients who were pleased and impressed with her work ethic, advice, and results. With a growing client base and after several moves around Kalamazoo County, she secured Accounting Alternative's headquarters at it's current location on Portage Road.

John is an IRS registered tax preparer. Leaving behind a mold making career, he joined his wife Sharon as a business partner in 2002. Though Sharon has always been in charge of the accounting, John took over managing payrolls and related reporting. Each have their own tax clients, but both work together in their mission: delivering professional and quality results for every client by treating them like family. Many clients have become good friends and good friends have become clients.
